Drury redevelopment plans get the green light
Park Green is only a few minutes’ drive from the planned Drury Town Centre.
As Auckland continues its expansion, nearby to Park Green, plans by some of New Zealand’s biggest developers to rezone 330 hectares of land in Drury from future urban to a mix of residential, business and open space zones, have recently been given the green light.
The rezoning will allow for a well-planned centre that meets the needs of the local community, without having to travel out of the area. Over time, it means more housing, employment, retail, social, community facilities, public open spaces and healthcare for residents, and the wider community.
The total population of the Takanini, Drury, Opāheke, Paerata and Pukekohe areas is expected to grow to 120,000 people over the next 30 years. The redevelopment of Drury would see a town the size of Napier eventually built in Drury, delivering employment, recreational and shopping opportunities to the area.
