The new Drury (Central) train station is on track to become operational in 2026 as part of Auckland’s Southern Line electrification, featuring platforms, a bus interchange, and park-and-ride facilities. This is only an approximate 5-minute drive or 30-minute walk away from Park Green. Physical works are expected to be complete by mid 2026, improving access to Auckland’s rail network.
Key Updates for 2026
• Operational Date: The main Drury Central station, (Te) Maketuu Station, is scheduled to open in 2026, with construction progressing rapidly.
• Station Features: The station, located near Waihoehoe Road between Flanagan Rd and Great South Rd, will include a bus interchange, walking/cycle paths, and a park-and-ride facility for up to 350 car parks.
• Construction Progress: As of early 2026, work includes pedestrian overbridge installation, lift shafts, and surfacing of parking/bus areas.
• Related Projects: The nearby Paerātā station is also progressing for a 2026 opening.
• Network Integration: These stations are part of the broader electrification of the line to Pukekohe and align with the opening of the City Rail Link.
These developments are part of the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi’s efforts to support growth in South Auckland.
